In the mid 80’s all I wanted was an Atari Games Console. Instead, my parents bought me a basic Commodore computer and from that moment on my life changed – it gave birth to my interest in technology.
After completing my studies in 1990, I joined an emerging IT industry in 1991 with United Computer Group in Sydney’s outer suburbs. There I started as a trainee technician however it wasn’t long before UCG went out of business, leaving behind a client base which required support and advice services.
At the age of 19 I joined forces with the IT Manager to start PC-Net Services. PC-Net Services has grown year on year and has since evolved into Synergise IT, a boutique team of technology specialists dedicated to providing our clients with quality IT solutions – something of which I am very proud of today.
Although I’ve owned my own business and worked for myself my entire working career, it has been an extremely diverse 25 years. It’s the real-world experiences of dealing with a diverse set of Australian Businesses, and some multi-nationals, coupled with my love and interest of technology, that has given us broad exposure to the IT Industry and the many facets it represents.
Over my 25-year career, I have assisted many IT Departments with building a process driven service, and worked to drive internal user satisfaction. I have worked at the big end of town managing clients with 10K+ staff and I have lifted countless businesses out of a dysfunctional IT system and relationship, implementing alternative IT solutions that are tailored to raise user satisfaction and increase business productivity whilst building lasting client relationships.
At work, I am an innovative and results driven professional with a deep understanding of businesses and the challenges they face. My 35+ year career history includes extensive experience in developing, implementing and managing IT strategies, solutions and projects for both infrastructure and applications.
I initially started my working life embarking on a number of different adventures from Real Estate to Retail and Financing. In the late 80s I completed my Accounting Diploma at the Sydney Institute of Technology and joined Trivett as their accountant for what turned out to be a 24-year stint. It gave me a valuable insight into how businesses succeed and the sometimes terrifying challenges they face. Starting as an Accountant for a business with 50 staff to later overseeing management of IT for a group employing over 600, representing 18 luxury vehicle brands at 12 locations. Part of my responsibility as an Accountant was to oversee the IT Systems and with a deep understanding of the business and it’s needs, I would search for solutions that an evolving IT industry in its infancy could offer.
In 1993, as the business grew, with the passion to see IT making a difference in business, I took on a full time role of IT Manager helping the business grow through its various phases to become Australia’s leading prestige automotive group. As a member of its Board of Management I was able to gain insight into the business’ growth plan challenges that needed innovative solutions. Part of my strategy was to outsource the management of the company’s IT infrastructure to an IT service provider to complement an in-house IT Team of four. The dependence on, and fast evolution of, technology meant that the higher skilled functions of IT were better left to an organisation that can offer the skills and expertise at the leading edge of technology. This approach led to a 15-year relationship with Synergise IT who during that time was known as PC-Net Services.
My time at Trivett included project management of a number of projects including ERP System upgrade, Design and roll out of VoIP system, Security solutions including proximity access and CCTV, Strategy and delivery around mobility, Digitisation and Social Business, Showroom development with data cabling infrastructure, audio/visual systems & security.
In 2013, the opportunity arose to join Synergise IT as Operations Manager. As a client, I witnessed the professional but personal approach of David Seward and his team with an honest ethical approach to servicing clients. This drew me to join the business as it very much suited my personal ethos. Within 12 months I was offered equal partnership with David Seward and we have since been working on taking a good business with very strong foundations to the next level, offering clients a variety of products as well as various ways in which we can help businesses meet their demanding needs.
Taking my previous experience, I am now working with great business owners to help their business grow with a consultative and solution focused approach. I look forward to helping your business grow and fulfill my personal desire to help people achieve their potential.
